Tell us a bit about why you decided to join Bellona?
Building my career as a young professional in the financial industry, I am reminded daily that women often have to work twice as hard and continuously overcompensate to have equal opportunities as their male counterparts. I would like to contribute to a society where women are able to aspire without their gender being the sole reason why they second guess themselves. A corporate culture where women are recognized as intellectual equals. The success of Bellona will create a learning space that will allow us to draw courage from each other as phenomenal women across the African continent.
What is the best part about your role?
We have gone beyond dreaming of change, we have gone ahead and taken the step towards bringing the change we want to see for ourselves. I am honoured to be part of a diverse team leveraging on each other’s strengths and building something bigger than ourselves.
Tell us about your personal and professional growth while being part of the Bellona team?
I have learnt a lot about existing in a diverse team, a great leader does not let their strengths and exposure overpower and intimidate others, a great leader creates a conducive environment for everyone’s light to shine differently but equally.
What is a typical day at work like for you?
‘Typical’ almost makes it seem like I would know what to expect, but in the midst of doing economic research, reading through clients requests for funding, writing investment papers, presenting to investment committees, building and managing client relationships, somehow, jack always jumps out of the box.
Words you live by.
Lots, but, feel the fear but do it anyway.
